Company history

Camp America was established in 1969 and is part of a larger group called the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) that was founded in 1964. AIFS has offices in London, Paris, Stamford, Boston, Bonn, Cape Town, Warsaw and Sydney.

Each year the Camp America programme provides over 7,500 young people from all over the world with the opportunity to work a 9-week placement on a summer camp in the US. Currently Camp America works with over 900 summer camps located throughout the USA.

Since our Australian launch in 1972, many thousands of Aussies have taken up the challenge and included Camp America as part of their ‘working the world'. As the oldest US summer camp programme provider in Australia Camp America has built a reputation as delivering a quality gap year experience.

There's only one Camp America.
