Humans Of Camp America- Mitchell

I was really pushed to just be myself...

Before taking part in the Camp America program I was quite introverted and lacking in confidence. I was fresh out of high school and was accepted into a degree that I had no idea about. Being hired as an Arts and Crafts counsellor at 4-H Camp Wyomoco, I was really pushed to just be myself and was able to fit perfectly into the small camp community we had. Having to sing and dance in front of campers and embarrass yourself on a regular basis I became a much more lively person and left behind the shy Australian that everyone was met with at the start of the Summer. By the end of my first Summer I had dropped out and reapplied for a Bachelor of Art and Design, which I am now in my final year of.

I spent two years at Camp Wyomoco and have made so many life long mates whom I have since travelled the world with. I owe so much to my Camp America experience and have no idea who I would be without it.
