Child Protection Safeguarding Policy

This policy applies to all Camp America staff, interviewers and programme participants who are involved in the screening and selection processes for the Camp America programme.


The purpose of this policy:

  • to protect children & vulnerable adults who participate as campers at those camps in which Camp America participants are placed
  • to provide Staff, Agents, Interviewers, Camp Directors and Participants with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection & safeguarding;

Camp America believes that children & vulnerable adults should never experience abuse of any kind. We are committed to work in a way that keeps Child Protection & Safeguarding at the centre of our practices & procedures.


Key Procedures – Recruitment Screening

Camp America undertakes screening of our staff, interviewers and Programme Applicants utilising the same key procedures, these are detailed below:

1. All applicants to above Camp America positions are required to complete an Application Form tailored to the specific position to which they are applying.

2. All applicants to the above Camp America positions are required to submit two references that comply with our Reference Policy.

3. All applicants to the above Camp America positions are required to submit an annual police check.

4. All applicants to the above Camp America positions are required to attend a face to face interview to ascertain their suitability for the position applied to with Child Protection & Safeguarding being central to the interview process.
