Camp Overview

As brother/sister sleepaway camps, KenMont for Boys and KenWood for Girls, operate as two camps under a common philosophy and shared leadership — each with equal but separate facilities on the same campgrounds. Both camps have their own staff, programs, culture and traditions and are located less than 2 hours from New York City in Kent, CT. For staff, KenMont and KenWood is a co-ed experience as we share the same facilities and campground.

For campers, we offer two 3.5 week sessions each summer (staff work the full summer), providing a complete camp experience including Special Event Days and Color War. Through living in a bunk with 9-12 campers and 2-3 counselors, we work with our campers in each session on developing life skills such as confidence, independence and making friendships. We pride ourselves on being a uniform camp as it creates an environment where the social pressures of what to wear are removed. We provide an experience for campers, family and staff that focus on physical, emotional and social accomplishments.

Staff Time Off

All staff get one day off per week (starts at 6pm and ends at 6pm the next day); staff also get a period off per day as well as nights off every week.

Staff Qualities

Integrity is a characteristic of how each staff member must live their lives at KenMont and KenWood Camp. In order to be successful in our camp world, this is what we expect. In simple terms: Integrity means that you do the right thing even when no one is looking. For Us — It’s ALL About The Connection With The Kids! when kids leave camp what do they remember most? It’s not how they learned to hit a forehand or how to slalom on one water ski. It’s the relationships they form with their peers and their counselors. It’s about feeling good about themselves and their ability to connect with others. That’s what camp is really all about. In 20 years, they won’t remember most things they did at camp, but they will remember their friends and YOU. What you say and do with your campers will be remembered for a lifetime.
