Camp America 2020...

What is Camp America?

Over the years, the phrase ‘Camp America’ has become synonymous with young people spending the summer working in the USA. Even when people do things and go places that we don’t, they tell their friends “I did Camp America” – and that tells you just how popular our program has become.

Make no mistake, however... You will not get the ‘Camp America’ experience with any other company other than Camp America!

Since 1969, we’ve sent over 200,000 young people from around the world to work on camps throughout the USA. Summer camp in America is a massive tradition. It’s estimated there are 12,000 camps spread all over the country and each summer some 11 million children and adults will attend camp.

At camp, you will work directly with American children; by instructing or assisting them in activities. As we work with close to a thousand camps and place thousands of people every year, there are opportunities available for everyone.

Camp is a truly international environment; you’ll make friends from all corners of the globe including the UK, France, South Africa and of course New Zealand. This means that you will have an amazing travel experience and make lifelong friends from around the world.

But what is Summer Camp?

Summer Camps in the USA are hugely popular and are a classic representation of American culture. For over 100 years, American families have been sending their children, ages 6-17, to over 12,000 summer camps spread all throughout the United States.

Today, children from all corners of the globe travel to the US for camp and camp is now a truly international environment. The American Camp Association estimate that 11 million children and adults attend summer camp every summer - so that gives you an understanding of just how popular camp has become.

Every summer, children look forward to spending anywhere between 1-9 weeks at camp and, for many, this is their time to break loose from every-day life, try new activities and really enjoy themselves. The very best friendships are built on camp and the children rely on Counsellors to make sure they have the best possible summer. International counsellors are often the most popular on camp - because they bring weird and wonderful accents and a whole host of cultural differences that American children absolutely love. We always say that if you wonder what it feels like to be a celebrity then to be a Camp Counsellor.
